What is the Comprehensive Plan?
The Town of Chautauqua and Village of Mayville are working together on a Comprehensive Plan — our action plan for the next decade! We want this plan to reflect what is important to you, your family, and our community. Our Comprehensive Plan will inform decisions on community facilities, housing and business development, infrastructure, and much more!

Comprehensive Plan Updates:

Next Steps:
. Once the Committee is satisfied with the plan, it will be posted on the project website along with town and village websites, for public review and feedback.
. An executive summary will be prepared to engage elected officials, the business community, and other key stakeholders.
. Following public review, the adoption process will begin with consideration by the County Planning Board. The Town and Village will then schedule public hearings, after which the report will be submitted to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for SEQR review.


​Comprehensive Plan Predicted Timeline:
  •  February-March 2024: Initial project kickoff, develop community   profile 
  •  April-May 2024: Launch website, finalize community Engagement     plan, initiate public engagement activities
  •  June-August 2024: Public engagement, outreach, interviews
  •  September 2024: Discern & frame key issues, develop vision
  •  October 2024: Community Workshop 1
  •  November-January 2025: Develop key issues & recommendations
  •  February-March 2025: Workshop recommendations, further   develop implementation detail
  •  April 2025: Community Workshop 2
  •  May-June 2025: Complete draft plan
  •  July-August 2025: Public and agency review, adoption procedures​
